Character Development: from Concept Art to Costume Design

Masterclass for costume designers // 21-23 November, 2022

Black Room is Industry@Tallinn’s masterclass that explores the visual language of cinema. The aim of the masterclass is to offer extensive knowledge and practical skills necessary to design visually impactful cinematic worlds.

The 2022 Black Room masterclass „Character Development: from Concept Art to Costume Design” comprises in-depth training for costume designers who want to further their knowledge about visual storytelling, and explore the art and power of their craft.

Mentor

Black Room mentor Brunella De Cola’s career in the Art Department varies from working with some of the greatest authors of cinema to some of the biggest blockbusters.

She is the concept artist of Wes Anderson’s upcoming features The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar (2023) and Isle of Dogs (2018). She was also a visual effects artist for Tim Burton’s Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children (2016) and Robert Stromberg’s Maleficent (2014).

Additionally, Brunella is an art director for the upcoming Hollywood blockbuster Fast X (Fast & Furious 10, 2023) and worked as an assistant art director for Respect (2021), and Spider-Man: Far from Home (2019).

*Mentor Brunella De Cola is replacing Manon Rasmussen, who unfortunately isn’t able to attend this year’s program.

Submission for costume designers to participate Black Room masterclass in Tallinn participation fee is 150 €.
